Jaghatai Khan, The Warhawk - Forgeworld

Hello everyone

If you've been following along on Instagram you have probably seen a couple (or hundred) work in progress pictures of this project. But for the last month and a half, I've been painting Jaghatai Khan for a friend of mine. I rarely do commissions, even for friends, and this project has helped me remind myself of why that is the case :-p.

I was never a big fan of this model and painting it has surprisingly not helped with that (which is usually the case), but the amount of "stuff" on this model is just out of this world. Especially all the gold was really a chore to paint, but I suppose it worked out in the end.

Nevertheless, I'm really happy with the overall result and I hope you like it too.

I'm actually also working on another base which includes a jetbike, so hopefully, I'll have that done soon.

If you have any questions or want to see what I'm working on, check out my Instagram (@dornsarrow)

Until next time

Falkus Kibre, The Widow Maker - Sons of Horus - Forgeworld

Hello everyone!

So I just recently finished this model, the relatively new Sons of Horus Terminator from Forgeworld.
This was an absolute pleasure to paint and in my opinion, one of the best models Forgeworld has made in quite a while. I only did minor alterations on this one, pretty much just the head and a few more weapons (praise magnet Jesus).

Painted like all my other black armoured Sons of Horus (check the painting guide section for my tutorial) and then some more work done on the final highlights. To be fair the black armour didn't quite turn out how I wanted it, but I'm still very pleased with my result. The cloak and all the gold trim I'm really happy with so it kinda balances it out :-D

Anyway here are some more pictures

And because Instagram demanded it, here are a few group shots of all my Justaerin to date. Still have a few more I need to paint, but that will have to wait.

The next project is a Primarch I'm painting for a good friend of mine, probably won't post about it here until it's done, so follow along on Instagram if you are interested.

Until next time

The Legend of Vox Machina - Critical Role - Steamforged Games

Hello Everyone!
To celebrate the ending of the first season of the Critical Role animated show "The Legend of Vox Machina" I decided to finally paint the remaining two miniatures from my Vox Machina set I got from their Kickstarter some years ago.

I only had Keyleth and Percy left to do, but those were probably also the most challenging of the lot.
Yesterday I stayed up to 4.30am to get Percy finished and some pictures taken, ready to post for the release of the last 3 episodes of the show, and also happened to be at the time of the live stream, so that was quite fortunate.

Overall it was a lot of fun painting these, even though I would have wished for them to be cast in a better material than this soft board game plastic, as it doesn't hold detail too well. But nevertheless, I'm really happy with the result I was able to achieve.

During my painting sessions, I spent a lot of time scouring the internet of other people's versions to get some inspiration on how others had painted certain parts of the miniatures, but I couldn't find too many good pictures of all angles of the model. So I hope the pictures below might be able to help others out in the future :-)

Grog Strongjaw

Keyleth

Percy

Pike Trickfoot

Scnalan Shorthalt

Vax'ildan

Vex'ahlia & Trinket

That's it for today, I'd highly recommend checking out "The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime if you like Fantasy and/or DnD

Until next time
Chris

Horus Aximand - Lux Thantor Miniatures

Hello everyone!

Two posts in two days!? that's just madness! But it's true I assure you :-D
So while painting the Forgeworld Praetor I also worked on this custom sculpt by Lux Thantor of Horus Aximand, based on the book art of the Horus Heresy book "The Either" by Graham McNeill.

Together with a few other enthusiasts in the community, we commissioned this model and had it cast in a very limited quantity afterward (with permission of course), so this model is not available for purchase and probably never will be. This is not a 3d designed model but a traditionally sculpted model (proof) and it's absolutely fantastic.

It was such a joy to paint up and I only did minor alterations on the miniature before I started painting it. Painting wise there isn't much to report, as I painted it exactly like I did on the FW Praetor I posted about yesterday.

Anyway, I really hope you like it as much as I do :-) here are some more pictures of the finished model.

Until next time
Chris
