Crimson Fists - Devastator Squad

Hello everyone

Time for another post about my current project, this time it's a 10 man Devastator Squad with 4 Lascannons, 1 sergeant and 5 normal marines. I recently purchased 15 devastor marines from eBay, 8 with lascannons and 5 with heavy bolters, well and 3 sergeants, since I wanted some more firepower for my army, should maybe have bought some plasma cannons aswell, but meh, some other time.

Since I have alot of standard unpainted marines laying around I decided to add some to my devastator squad to make it a 10 man unit.

Update - 02.11.12

Hello people

I would like to apologize for the lack of updates around here lately... the reason for this is me sadly relapsing back to one of my old addictions after a long break. Some of my friends convinced me to try this new thing out, and sadly I couldn't resist...I know, I'm not proud of it, but you know how group preasure can be.

I'm of course talking about the new World of Warcraft expansion, Mist of Pandaria, which I have been playing quite alot recently and this sadly resulted in less time for painting, but I'm trying to get a little done here and there.

Well here's a quick progress picture, just to assure you that I haven't abandoned this comepletely :-)

Test Painting

So currently I'm just test painting a single marine, just to see how the paint method I'm trying out is going to look when finished. I'm not planning on painting this squad as simple as my other marines with just a dark blue, some shadow and a very light edge highlight. This time I'm trying to do something like what I did on my Cantor figure, just perhaps abit more simple this is just a normal squad afterall.

The biggest problem with this approach is that the marine is going to look alot lighter than the rest of my army, but also more interresting I think, but perhaps thats just me.

Anyway I know this picture isn't very good, but what do you guys think?

Test figure finished?

So on the left you see how the figure looked before I started painting it, in the middle the finished figure and on the right a comparison with one of my old figures.

To be honest I quite like the new and improved look, even though it's a little lighter, but perhaps I will try with a darker base color for the next batch.

Anyway what do you think?

Hopefully there will be more soon!

Chaos Lord - Dark Vengeance

Hello everyone!

Today I have a small update of one of my ny small projects. For the first time it isn't about Crimson Fists Space marines! no no, this time I'm trying myself with a Chaos figure from the Dark Vengeance set, this will be the first time in a very very long time I will be painting a "evil" figure, as I'm always more drawn to "the good guys", so I'm looking forward to trying to paint a darker more evul type of figure.

Not much to show at the moment, but so far I've just prepped the figure and primed it.

Progress Update:

Been working abit more on my Chaos Lord, still far from finished though, but it's fun to try painting something other than your standard space marine, and this lord is quite a challenge, with all his weird bling and faces on his armour and sword etc.

Well here's some pictures, still much to do!

Update 15.10.2012

So after a while not really progressing much on this figure, I managed to get some work done today. Not really alot left to be done actually, I will probably assemble it later today, and then paint the rest of the small details afterwards.

So today I managed to finish my first attempt at painting a Chaos Space Marine, and it has been a great experience, it's so different from my normal Space Marines, so much more bling and weird stuff all over the place.

Sorry about the pictures quality, they were taken with my phone because I lent my camera to my little brother for him and his girlfriends trip to Scotland. But I hope you'll live :-p

I actually have the Chaos Chosen from the Dark Vengeance set coming my way soon, and kinda looking forward to painting them.

That's it for now, hope you liked it, so until next time.
