Hello everyone
Just a short post today, as I just wanted to show the latest squad I finished for my Sons of Horus using the new MKVI plastic marines and a lot of 3d printed parts.
I managed to get these done just in time for MWW6, an event in Malmö I attended this past weekend.
Was an absolute blast and got to meet a few of the hobby boyfriends, which was a lot of fun. I will definitely be going again next year.
Chris
These are amazing! Absolutely love them, keep up the good work - your work is inspiring!
ReplyDeletemuch appreciated :-)
DeleteMe again - quick question regarding the conversion. So the legs look like Mk6, while the bodies look like a variety of things. Did you chop the legs at the waist to join the two? Want to emulate what you've done here for my veterans! And are the spiked shoulder pads 3D printed? Oh, and do the MK4 and 6 work together okay in terms of the proportions? Sorry for the wall of text!
ReplyDeleteIndeed I did, very easy to do with a small hobby saw. The spiked shoulders, most of the torsos, heads and backpacks are printed.
DeleteI think the older plastic sets work fine with the new MKVI, again most of these chets are printed, only a few are plastic or resin :-)
Hello, love your work, both paints and conversions. Awesome skill and imagination. Your SoH look very scary yet refined. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteMay I know where did you get the trophy skulls, and chains? I saw you also include these on your bikes etc...I would love to add these to my SoH, but cannot find where are these from...is it a 3D print? Would you mind sharing the soource? Thanks
Lupercal!
Jan
Hey mate
DeleteThank you very much :)
What you want for chains if 35-40 links per inch chain, usually used for hobby trains. Something like this will do very nicely, especially for infantry, maybe 30-35 for vehicles and dreadnoughts

For skulls I just bought the GW skulls box :P endless supply of skulls in a single box
Hello Chris,
ReplyDeletethat is cool. So you glued the chains on the minis or skulls and than greens tuff added the petals etc? The result is awesome.
How about the bodies? Would you mind sharing where are these from?
Cheers - Jan
Hey Jan
DeleteYeah chains on first. Then I added small slices of Greenstuff or plasticard (much easier).
The torsos are nearly all 3d printed, with a few just being plastic MK3/4. Just designs I found on cults3d, most likely Fummelfinger designs.
Cheers
Chris
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeletethanks for the reply, very inspiring, I will definitely use some of ideas in my army! Especially the chains make them look very badass!
one last question - I am starting to play with my airbrush, and was wondering - would your painting scheme work with preshading or zenithal and than one translucent layer to make the preshading pop?
E.g. preshade Black - gray - white, and than go with sons of horus green + pale flesh?
Cheers - Jan
hey Jan
DeleteDefinitely! I'd probably just use Sons of Horus green though. If you did the preshade and then maybe going over with brush with pure white just highlighting the most raised upper areas and then do the green you'd probably get the best result. But you could also highlight afterwards of course :) If you want to.
