Catulan Reaver Champion - Games Workshop (Conversion)

Hello everyone!

It has been quite a while since I last posted, not because I haven't been painting since March, but simply because it primarily has been Napoleonic models, which I just forget to post as most people don't find them that interesting. I have painted a Warhammer Fantasy model which I should post as I imagine some might like a whiff of nostalgia. I'll get that sorted out soon (if I remember).

Anyway!
I got this model, or well the base model, as a gift from a good friend of mine earlier in the year, and between all the Napoleonics I found time to start my conversion. The base model was the Loyalist Champion Consul from Games Workshop/Forgeworld, and then I just raided my bits box for the rest and did a lot of scraping/sanding/Greenstuffing to remove all the "loyalist" details on the model.

I'm quite proud of the conversion, but parts of the paint job I'm not too keen on, and at the same time also too lazy to actually redo it. So this will have to do :-)

Here's some more pictures for the full 360, I hope you like it.

As always, if you want a more steady stream of updates I'd suggest following along on Instagram.

Contemptor Dreadnought - Sons of Horus - Games Workshop

Hello everyone!

Totally forgot to post this Contemptor Dreadnought I painted up after the release of the Age of Darkness starter set. So better rectify that immediately.

Build right out of the box with a few Sons of Horus conversions added (chains and coins). Was a lovely model to paint but honestly a little shit to assemble compared to the FW resin version.

Anyway, pictures!

Tybalt Marr & Vheren Ashurhaddon - Sons of Horus - Horus Heresy

Hello everyone

Another post about projects I never posted about on here.
This time around it's a couple of Sons of Horus characters, that I painted quite a while back I think.

Vheren Ashurhaddon is from Forgeworld (Now just Warhammer?), slightly reposed and with a 3D-printed helmet, as I really didn't like the one that came in the set. Tybalt Marr is a custom resin sculpt, which isn't available anymore so I won't bother to say who sold it, as you sadly won't be able to get one anyway. It's based on some artwork from the Black Library Horus Heresy series, which depicts both him and Horus Aximand (Which I have painted two versions of now) on the cover.

Anyway, less talk more pictures :-)

I'm currently working on a few Napoleonic projects and Horus Ascended, but Warlord Games have just started a little painting competition I have to paint for because the prize is absolutely bonkers insane and we really want to try and win it.

Still a project or two yet to show, so I'll see if I remember it the coming days.

Until then
Chris

Centurion - Sons of Horus - Games Workshop

Hello everyone

Two posts in two days, madness!
But as I mentioned yesterday I have a few Sons of Horus projects I've completely forgotten to post.

First up is my converted Centurion from the Age of Darkness starter set by Games Workshop. The main conversion is of course the chest swap, which is just a 3D-printed torso I found on Cults3D and had a mate print for me. The rest is just a slight reposing of the bits from the model. I think there's a photo on my Instagram where I show the unpainted model so it's easier to see what I've actually done (but you have to scroll back quite a lot)

I'll see if I remember to post another project tomorrow :-D

Until then
Chris

Ultramarine Command Squad - Kinstrife Terminators - DivergingRealm

Hello everyone

It has been a little while since I posted anything here. I actually thought I had shared these, but apparently, I hadn't. So better rectify that now.

These models are designed by a mate of mine a few years ago, CAD designed and then cast in resin and quite heavily modified by me. He does a lot of crazy designs and he has only gotten better in the last year, so I'd suggest checking him out! (DivergingRealm).

I began working on these before the new edition hit and I had actually written my own rules for them. But since 2nd edition arrived I haven't gone back to that idea. So I suppose I'll just play them as a Command Squad or something now (haven't played them yet).

Anyway, I'm really happy with how they turned out, even though painting all the gold was a fucking chore :-p. now enjoy some more pictures.

I also finished another project recently and I'll try to post about it soon. As always if you want to follow along with my work, check out my Instagram.

Until next time.

Chris

Sons of Horus - MKV Tactical Squad 2 - Games Workshop

Hello everyone

Just a short post today, as I just wanted to show the latest squad I finished for my Sons of Horus using the new MKVI plastic marines and a lot of 3d printed parts.

I managed to get these done just in time for MWW6, an event in Malmö I attended this past weekend.
Was an absolute blast and got to meet a few of the hobby boyfriends, which was a lot of fun. I will definitely be going again next year.

Until next time
Chris

Sons of Horus - MKV Tactical Squad - Games Workshop

Hello everyone

If you have been following along on Instagram, you'll probably have noticed I'm currently painting a lot of new Tactical Marines and other stuff from the Age of Darkness Starter Set. In total, I'm currently painting 30 Tactical Marines, 5 Recon Marines (Finished), a Contemptor Dreadnought and a Centurion.

The Recon Squad is already finished, and now I only have to do another 20 Tactical Marines. My deadline is currently the end of October as I would like to have at least 20 of the Tacticals finished and ready for an event I'm going to.

You might notice these are not actually the MKVI marines from the box set, and you'd be absolutely right. I only used the legs, arms, 1 right shoulder pad, weapons and the Vexilla. All the remaining parts are either FW reason, GW plastic or 3d Prints (the majority).  I wanted to make them into a makeshift MKV unit, and I think I did alright.

They are painting just like I've described in my old painting guide. I've just changed the highlight placement and done a lot more highlighting with the brush. I've gotten a little bored with just doing edge highlights, so have to challenge myself ever so slightly.

Even though I hate batch painting with a fiery passion, I'm still happy with how these turned out, and I've already started working on the next batch of 10 (and the Centurion). If you want to follow along, hop over on Instagram as I update regularly.
